Division 2
We played Garycastle in the second last game in this league on Saturday evening last needing a win to remain in contention for promotion. The lads started well and maintained this for the majority of the game seeing off every attempt of a comeback from Garycastle. The end score was 1-13 to 0-9. Special mention must go to the man of the match Enda Boland who must have covered every blade of grass and won back possession at crucial times followed closely by the tight man marking and excellent reading from corner back Luke Kelly. We now play Shandonagh in the last game of this league and anything less than a win will not be enough so all support is appreciated.

Team, Eoin Carberry, Damian Boland, Damian Carroll, Luke Kelly, Shane Tone, Andrew McCormack, Paddy Boland, Tj Fox, Declan Mullen, Daniel Boland, Enda Boland, David Fox, David Malynn, Cathal Daly, Boidu Sayeh.
No subs used
Scorers, Cathal Daly 1-2, David Malynn 0-4, David Fox 0-3, Declan Mullen 0-2, Andrew McCormack 0-2.

Junior B Championship
We bowed out of the junior b championship last Tuesday evening in Shandonagh on a score line of 1-11 to 0-13 to Shandonagh. This was a must win game and we needed to win by a good score difference to remain in the championship, the lads tried hard but it was always going to be an uphill task. We never seemed to have a full strength team for junior b this year and as a result we never really got going and unfortunately our title defence has ended rather swift. It was great to see Patrick Boland back in the fold and he put in a good shift in midfield.
Team, Darren O Connell, Damian Boland, Damian Carroll, Richard O Brien, Patrick Keenan, Andrew McCormack, Dylan Hassett, Patrick Boland, David Malynn, Daniel Digan, David Fox, Daniel Boland, Aaron Farrell, Stephen Darcy, Alan Deegan.
Subs Used, Padraig Nestor, Niall Hanevy

Division 2
We played St Malachys in a very important game in this division in Castletown last Friday night. Down numbers again we still headed to Castletown with high hopes but as with the game on Tuesday night we came up short in the end on a score line of 3:10 to 1:09. All credit to the lads though they put in a great effort and never gave up until the final whistle which is something we can never fault them on. This game was a lot closer than the score line suggests and only for conceding 2 goals against the run of play near the end it may have been a different story. It is hard to pick out one or two that stood out as everyone played well and tried hard for the cause. Down numbers or not we still had enough chances to win this game and had we not been so poor in front of goals it may have been different. This is something we will need to improve on for the remaining two games in this league if we are to progress. We would ask for as much support as possible in the last two games as we cannot progress with another defeat.

15th June 2015
Fixtures
We have a division 2 away game against St Malachys on Friday the 19th at 7:30. All support is much appreciated as this is a must win game for us.

1st June 2015
Championship
We played our local rivals Moate last Sunday morning in Miltown in the eagerly anticipated first round of the intermediate championship. We needed to start this campaign well as we aim to go one step further than last year. We started very slow and it looked like it would be one of those days as we were missing most of our chances but brilliant link up play from Cathal and Boidu resulting in a well taken goal from the latter midway through the first half was the turning point and we started taking our chances from then on. We went on to get 2 more goals early in the second half and open up a nice lead but all credit to Moate they never gave up and kept coming at us but our defence held strong until the end. A fisted point from Tj and a goal from David Malynn in the last few minutes secured our first win of the year on a score line of 4-10 to 10. It was hard to pick a man of the match as all the lads played well, Enda Bolands bravery and work rate were crucial and Cathal Daly was outstanding all game but Boidu Sayah gets the nod here with one the of the best performances seen in a Rosemount jersey for a long time. No rest for the wicked as the lads will already be preparing for the next game.

Team, Eoin Carberry, Luke Kelly, Eamon Boland, Damian Carroll, Shane Tone, Andrew McCormack, Darren King, Declan Mullen, David Dude McCormack, David Fox, Theo Watts, Enda Boland, Cathal Daly, David Tone, Boidu Sayah.
Subs Used, Tj Fox, David Malynn, Aaron Farrell.
Scorers, Declan Mullen 1-1, Cathal Daly 0-4, David Fox 0-3, Theo Watts 1-0, Boidu Sayah 1-0, David Malynn 1-0, David Tone 0-1, Tj Fox 0-1.

Junior B Championship
We played Balinagore last Thursday evening in Rosemount in the second round of the junior b championship needing to win to have any chance of progressing to the knockout stages. We started very slow and it looked like it would be one of those evenings but a well taken goal from Shane Tone midway through the first half was the turning point and we started playing some good football from then on. We went on to win on a score line of 1-19 to 1-6. Shane Tone was a constant nuisance at centre forward and Aaron Farrell is continuing his good run of form. Eoin Heavin and Cathal Daly stood out in defence.

Junior B Championship
We played Moate in the first round of the junior b championship last Thursday evening as we try to defend our title this year. It was a super day for a game of ball but one must wonder how a championship game was fixed for the middle of the week when most colleges are running there end of year examinations. With many absent we put in a good effort but came up short in the end and had we not been so wasteful at important times it may have been a different story. We were second to most balls and we will need to improve on this if we are to progress further in this competition. John Keenan stood out scoring six points from play. The game finished Moate 1-12 Rosemount 10pts

Team, Darren O’Connell, Damien Boland, Damien Carroll, Richie O’Brien, Patrick Keenan, Shane Tone, Eoin Heavin, Andy McCormack, Eoin Carberry, David Fox, David Malynn, Danny Fielding, Aaron Farrell, Stephen Darcy, John Keenan. Subs used: Paddy Malynn, Alan Deegan
Scorers, John Keenan 0-6, Patrick Keenan 0-2, Aaron Farrell 0-1, David Fox 0-1

Division 7
We played Tang on Saturday evening in Tang needing to bounce back from our championship defeat midweek. Having picked up some injury’s from the championship game we were again down more numbers and had to play 14 aside. In terrible conditions we started very slow until some good play set up Stephen Malone who made no mistake in finding the net. We then went from strength to strength and ended up winning on a score line of 3-18 to 1-9. We now need to build on this performance and get ourselves back into the championship race. David Fox had an outstanding game in the forwards while Damian Boland and Daniel Boland also chipped in with solid displays.
Team, Ronald Mullen, Richie O Brien, Damian Boland, Patrick Keenan, Damian Carroll, David Malynn, Shane Tone, Stephen Darcy, Andrew McCormack, Stephen Malone, David Fox, Daniel Boland, Patrick Malynn, Alan Deegan
Scorers, David Fox 0-11, Stephen Malone 1-0, Damian Boland 1-0, Stephen Darcy 1-0, Daniel Boland 0-2, Shane Tone 0-2, Patrick Malynn 0-2, Andrew McCormack 0-1.

Division 2
We played an away game against The Downs last Saturday evening at 6pm in a very important game to get our promotion hopes back on track this year. From the minute the ball was thrown in it was evident that the lads were up for this one. We started well and scored 2 goals in quick succession and from that point on kept tipping away until the end. The downs tried hard to get back into it but to be fair the conditions made it hard for them to stage a comeback and our defence was holding solid. It was a great response from the lads to our defeat in the previous game of this league. The game finished 5:09 to 0:8 in our favour. Declan Mullen had an outstanding game in midfield. David Tone was lively inside while Darren King, Enda Boland and Damian Carrell all worked relentlessly and chipped in with solid displays. We now have 3 very tough games left on this journey and we will need all the support we can get for them if we are to be promoted “your club needs you”.

This last week was a very sad week for the club as we lost our club president, past player and lifetime supporter Johnny Healy. Johnny was a part of the Rosemount team that won 3 senior championships and he was one of the few remaining members of the Westmeath team that reached the Leinster final in 1949. Our deepest sympathies go out to his family at this time.

Division 7
We continued with our good run in this league with an impressive victory over Delvin in Rosemount last Saturday evening. It was a good day for a game of ball and the pitch had dried up well from the conditions earlier in the week. It was great to see a few comebacks for this game and they are more than welcome it the future as well. We got off to a great start and never looked back with Aaron Farrell continuing his good form in front of the goal posts. It was also great to see two of them comebacks Alan Deegan and Paddy Malynn chipping in with 3 well taken points each.

Minor League
With the change to new time and bright evenings there is also change in Rosemount. We are delighted to have talented new players and mentors join us from Castledaly. Our u14s competed in the feile in ballinagore last Saturday and while we were very competitive and enjoyed the day, Mullingar were the best team on the day and topped the group. On Thursday the u14s started their league campaign with a win over Shannon Gaels and their performance bodes well for season ahead.

30th March 2015
Division 2
We played Miltownpass in the league last Sunday in Miltownpass, Conditions were poor and it was hard to play football but all credit to the lads as they performed well and ground out a very good result. It was certainly a day where defences would shine and this game was no different with young Damian Carroll in particular having an outstanding game at corner back. The game ended Rosemount 1-8 to Miltownpass 0-3. We are now sitting joint top on this league and we have 3 more league games fixed before the championship starts, we would appreciate as much support as possible for these games as we seek to finally gain promotion from this league.

We played Miltown last Sunday morning in Rosemount in perfect conditions for a game. We started well and the lads continued to keep the scoreboard ticking over making it hard for Miltown to get a good run going. Indeed Miltown had there purple patch in the second half with some good play and a well taken goal but we replied with a crucial point from the following kick out and pushed on to win on a scoreline 1:16 to 1:4 with Aaron Farrell and Cathal Daly showing very well in the forward line and T.J Fox putting in a good shift in midfield.

Division 2 League
We made it 3 wins from 3 in this division last Sunday in Rosemount in a tight encounter with St Marys. It was a very poor low scoring game considering the perfect conditions on offer. We played with a slight breeze in the first half and started the better with David Dude McCormack and David Tone showing well inside. However we could not shake a hard working St Marys side. We didn’t seem to bring our scoring boots as we missed a lot of chances and forced some good saves from the St Marys keeper. St Marys took the lead in the second half and looked sure to keep it but in fairnace to our lads they finished strong and a good run from man of the match Theo Watts resulted in a converted free to leave just one in it. This was followed by an inspirational finish to the game by Boidu Sayeh scoring the equaliser and he was heavily involved in David Malynns winner. This was a game we could have left behind us or drawn but the lads showed the belief and character needed if we are to gain promotion to Division 1. The final score was Rosemount 0-10 St Marys 0-9

We played Kilbeggan last Saturday in Rosemount, it was a tightly contested game where we started well but then Kilbeggan got a goal against the run of play and went from strength to strength. We got off to a winning start against Tang last Sunday in the first round of the league. We hit the ground running at led 2:03 to no score after ten minutes but as halftime closed in Tang got back into the game and the score was 2:05 to 6 points. We pushed on in the second half to eventually win on a scoreline of 4:09 to 10 points. Winning is a habit so hopefully the lads can continue this next week when we host Castledaly.

Do you know Keenahans or Rabbitts with Rosemount origins circa 1800's??? See message below.

Hello,
I am looking for information on my great great grandparents, Patrick Keenahan (b. abt 1825) and Bridget Rabbitt (b. abt 1825 - Parents John Rabbitt and Anne Claven). My great grandfather, Lawrence Keenan, was born to them in 1842 in Rosemount, Westmeath. They emigrated to America c. 1850 and Patrick and Bridget died on board the ship, leaving Lawrence an orphan. He lived with relatives in New York state (maybe Catherine Garrity). Any information on these families will be most appreciated.

Thank you.

Div7
We played Mullingar Shamrocks in the Div 7 League final last Saturday in Rosemount at 2pm. A massive effort was put in by both teams as Mullingar led by 6 points at the break, we managed to claw that lead back in the second half and led by 6 points ourselves with ten minutes remaining. Mullingar worked hard and never gave up and got there reward in the final minutes scoring a goal to win the game. It turned out to be a very entertaining match and even though we had a lot of players absent we fought hard and were unlucky to lose by a point in the closing minutes.
Final Score
Rosemount 1:13 Mullingar 3:08

16th Nov 2014
AGM
We had our AGM on Saturday night last where our outgoing secretary Paddy Malynn, reflected on a successful year, especially at Intermediate, Minor and U16 level. There was some lively debate, mostly centred around falling numbers in the club. At the election of officers we had a completely new Top table elected. Chairman - Colm Boland, Secretary - Niall O'Brien, Treasurer - Peter Keenan(jnr). Stephen Darcy has taken up the PRO portfolio.

Intermiedate Cup
We bowed out of the intermiedate Cup on Sunday with a one point loss to Shandonagh in Shandonagh. We led at half time and for most of the game but we lost out by a point in the latter stages. A good effort was put in by all the lads for this time of year and had we been more ruthless in front of goal we may have come away with a victory. Final Score Rosemount 1-13 Shandonagh 1-14.

Stephen Darcy 1-3

Junior B Final

Rosemount 0-11
St Mary’s Rochfordbridge 2-3
So, 2014 hasn’t gone without some silverware. Our junior b championship win on Saturday last went in some way towards making up for our county final loss two weeks ago. A large number of supporters travelled the by-now familiar route to Rochfordbridge. Having played with a strong breeze in the opening half we were just a point to the good at the break 5 points to 1-1. However we upped our game in the second period. TJ Fox was very much to the fore in driving at the home defence generating scoring opportunities. Ahead by five, with ten minutes remaining, things were looking good, but the home side pulled a goal back to leave us with a nervy two point lead. A point apiece in the dying seconds gave us a well deserved two point win.
Team: Darren O’Connell, Damien Carroll, Eamon Boland, Dylan Hassett, Paddy Keenan, Darren King, Boidu Sayeh, TJ. Fox(0-2), Andy McCormack, Daniel Boland, Cathal Daly(0-3), David Malynn, Danny Fielding(0-2), Paddy McCormack, Johnny Keenan(0-3). Subs used: Damien Boland for D. Hassett, Aaron Farrell for Daniel Boland, Stephen Darcy for P. Keenan, Dan Digan for D. Fielding, Richie O’Brien(0-1) for P. McCormack, Paddy Malynn for J. Keenan.

Appreciation
With an under16 final and possibly an Intermediate cup competition left to play, the curtains are almost drawn on 2014. We would like to thank the managers of all our teams for all their work throughout the year. Thanks to our supporters who have travelled in large numbers to our games at all levels. We want to thank in a special way, our sponsors and those volunteers who help to keep our finances ticking over, without them the club would not survive. Thank you to all who sponsored us so generously in our recent golf classic, it was a huge success. Thanks to you and anyone who has given of their time in any way for the betterment of the club.

Intermediate Final
Rosemount 0-5
Caulry 1-5
This was always going to be a low scoring contest where one score was likely to be the difference between winning and losing. We had the better of the early exchanges with Dude McCormack giving us a two point lead. Then a goal from Garry Flanagan gave Caulry a lead that they maintained till the end. Three behind at the break, we brought the deficit back to one after the restart and held Caulry scoreless till five minutes from time. But for an excellent save by Joe McMahon in the Caulry goal with ten minutes left, Declan Mullens shot could have got us over the line. While it may appear to have been a poor game, given the lack of scores, credit must go the defenders on both sides. Congratulations to Caulry who were probably marginally better throughout. While we came up just short at the final hurdle, it certainly wasn’t from a lack of effort from our lads. On behalf of the committee, I want to say a big thank you to Frank, his selectors and the team for all their effort, in what was a long and enjoyable year. Team: Eoin Carberry, Shane Tone, Eamon Boland, Luke Kelly, Andy McCormack, Darren King, Boidu Sayeh, Enda Boland, Declan Mullen(0-1), Paddy Boland, James Geoghegan, DD McCormack, Theo Watts, Dude McCormack(0-4), David Tone. Subs use : TJ Fox for T. Watts, David Malynn for P. Boland, Cathal Daly for DD. McCormack.

U16
Our under 16s are due to play Athlone in Moate in the semi- final on Saturday

29th Sep 2014

County Final
All roads lead to Mullingar on Sunday where we face Caulry in the Intermediate final at 4.30. Nothing short of an all-out effort will be required against a side who can call on the experience of the last three intermediate finals. We wish Frank and the lads all the best for Sunday.

Minor
Our minors lost out to a strong Shandonagh side on a score of 2-12 to 1.11 in Kilbeggan on Saturday morning.

Junior B
Well done to our Junior B team who qualified for the final last Sunday. They overcame Milltown in a rather physical encounter in the park on Sunday afternoon. With the sides tied at the break, 6 points each, we stepped it up a gear with some excellent scores in second period. Final score 2-10 to 1-6.

22nd Sept 2014
Intermediate Championship
Rosemount 1-9
Tubberclair 0-9
I said in last week’s notes that we would need to up our game considerably from our quarter final performance if we were to beat Tubberclair, and that we duly did in Mullingar on Saturday evening. A good workmanlike performance from start to finish sees us into the Intermediate final on 5th October. Despite missing several scoring chances we went in at the break two ahead, 6 points to 4. In what was a low scoring game, a goal was always going to be crucial and it came within 10 minutes of the restart. An excellent long punt out of defence by Shane Tone found Theo Watts who flicked to the on-running David Tone. He in turn made up the yards and put the ball low to the left, out of Garry Connaughton’s reach. Positives from the game was the work put in by all the lads, but especially the backline. In the ‘Must do Better’ category has to be our shooting. A vast improvement in this area will be required to beat either Caulry or Tang, who replay their drawn match on Friday evening. Team: Eoin Carberry, Shane Tone, Eamon Boland, Luke Kelly, Andy McCormack, Darren King, Boidu Sayeh(0-2), Enda Boland, TJ. Fox, Theo Watts(0-1), James Geoghegan, DD McCormack, Danny Fielding(0-2), Dude McCormack(0-2), David Tone(1-1). Subs used: Paddy Boland for TJ Fox, Cathal Daly(0-1) for D. Fielding, Declan Mullen for J. Geoghegan, David Malynn for DD. McCormack, David Fox for T. Watts.

8th Sept 2014
Intermediate Championship
Rosemount 2-9
Milltownpass 1-8
Our intermediate team qualified for the semi-final of the Intermediate championship, with a hard fought and well-earned performance in Mullingar on Sunday. Two goals in the opening half from DD McCormack gave us some breathing space at the break. Milltownpass came back at us in the second half and some stout defending was required to keep our noses in front. We now meet Tubberclair in the semi in two weeks time. Another step up in performance will be definitely be required if we are to clear this hurdle.

Ladies County Final
Well done to Moate Ladies on winning the Intermediate title in Athlone on Saturday week defeating Ballycomoyle by the narrowest of margins. They now go on to play Leinster club championship against Wexford this Saturday and more importantly, will be playing senior football next year.
Commiserations but well done to their minor team, who put in a Trojan effort but lost out to Rochfordbridge by two points in the semi-final in Tubber on Sunday.

Intermediate Championship
Rosemount 2-17
Ballinagore 1-6
Our final group game of championship ended with comfortable win over Ballinagore in Moate on Saturday evening. David (Dude) McCormack marked his return with a goal after seven minutes to give us a lead that would not be relinquished. The bulk of our points came from David Tone and Danny Fileding, five apiece. This result means we finished top of the table with Tang, (ahead on score difference) but they take the semi-final spot due to their head-to-head win). We now meet Milltownpass who finished third in their group. Team: Eoin Carberry, Shane Tone, Eamon Boland, Luke Kelly, Andy McCormack, Enda Boland(0-1), Boidu Sayeh(0-2), Theo Watts(0-1) Stephen Darcy, TJ. 13th Aug 2014
U21 Championship
Rosemount 3-3
Tubberclair 1-15
We had to give second best to a very strong and balanced Tubberclair side on Tuesday in the park. However, our lads gave a very commendable performance and were always in the game right up to the final minutes. First half goals from David Fox and Cathal Daly ensured a one point deficit at the break, 2-1 to 8 points. The visitors kept up the momentum in the second period. An Andy McCormack goal was cancelled out by county player, Alan Coffey, who had been kept under wraps till then by Darren King. One wonders what if our county man, Dude McCormack had been available?
Team: Darren O' Connell, Damien Carroll, Darren King, Dylan Hassett, Damien Boland, Boidu Sayeh, Paugie Fox, Andy McCormack, Theo Watts, Cathal Daly, Daniel Boland, Danny Digan, David Fox,TJ. Fox, Aran Farrell.

Intermediate Championship
Rosemount 1-4
Tang 2-7
It was Tang who came away with both points from our top of the table clash in Rochfordbridge on Saturday last. We struggled in almost every area of the field against a very determined Tang side. With both teams defending in numbers in miserable wet conditions, it made for a very dour affair. In the end the difference between the teams was Tang's ability to shoot for points at the earliest opportunity. We wish Declan Mullen a speedy recovery from a facial injury picked up after a clash of heads midway through the second half.
Team: Eoin Carberry, Damien Carroll, Eamon Boland, Luke Kelly, Shane Tone, James Geoghegan, Darren King, Declan Mullen(1-2), Enda Boland(0-1), Andy McCormack, TJ. Fox, David Malynn(0-1), David Tone, DD McCormack, Theo Watts. Subs used: David Fox for D.Tone, Stephen Darcy for A. McCormack, Cathal Daly for T. Watts, Daniel Boland for D. Malynn, Daniel Fielding for D. Mullen.

Our u21s have a very difficult assignment tomorrow night in the park when they take on Tubberclair in the next round.
Tubberclair accounted for St Lomans with relative ease in the last game.

28th July 2014

Intermediate Championship

Rosemount 4-4
Ballynacargy 0-8
We picked up another two points in the championship by virtue of an eight point win over Ballynacargy in Tang on Sunday last. While Bal raised as many flags as ourselves, fortunately for us four of them were green. David Tone put the first underneath the keeper after only two minutes while Declan Mullen added another after twenty, when he fisted a rebound to the net. Were it not for the woodwork and two fine saves by Bal keeper Richie Price, it could have been a lot more than the 2-3 to two points at the break. Early in the second half, Theo Watts went on one of his trade-mark runs and while he appeared to lose control of the ball, did enough to toe poke it to the net. Bal had the better of the second half exchanges, scoring six points and forcing Eoin Carberry into making three excellent saves. Declan Mullen extended the lead with his second goal with ten minutes remaining.
Team: Eoin Carberry, Damien Carroll, Eamon Boland, Luke Kelly, Boidu Sayeh, James Geoghegan, Darren King, Declan Mullen(2-1), Enda Boland, Theo Watts(1-0) Andy McCormack, David Malynn, David Tone(1-0) DD McCormack, David Fox(0-1). 20th July 2014
Intermediate Championship

Rosemount 0-11
Ballymore 0-3
We made it a welcome maximum points from two games by overcoming Ballymore in Rochfortbridge on Saturday evening last. The weather had behaved itself right up to the throw-in but then we were treated to a dangerous lightning storm and a continuous downpour for all of the first half. We coped much better with the conditions, with a point each from David Tone, Boidu Sayeh, David Malynn and 3 from Declan Mullen(2 frees) to lead 6 points to 2 at the break. However, the wide count was racking up. The second half points came from Andy McCormack(2), David Malynn, David Tone and substitute David Fox. While it may not have been a classic we did enough, to pick up a valuable two points. Next up, Ballynacargy in Tang on Sunday next at 6pm. Team: Eoin Carberry, Damien Carroll, Eamon Boland, Luke Kelly, Boidu Sayeh(0-1), James Geoghegan, Darren King, Declan Mullen(0-3), Enda Boland, Andy McCormack(0-2), Theo Watts, TJ. Fox, David Malynn(0-2), DD McCormack, David Tone(0-2). Subs used: David Fox for TJ. Fox. Cathal Daly for T.Watts.

Intermediate Championship:
Our second championship game is against Ballymore and is fixed for this coming Saturday at 6pm in Rochfordbridge. Having beaten Ballynacargy in their opening game, Ballymore will have every right to fancy their chances here. However it will be important for us to build on our opening game and keep the momentum going. Best of luck to Frank and the lads. Our game is followed at 7.30 by Tubberclair v Milltownpass.

Intermediate Championship
Rosemount 5-12
C/F/C/W 0-7
We had an easier than expected passage through the first round of the championship on Tuesday evening with a comfortable win over Castletown-Finea-Coole-Whitehall. We were 1-2 ahead after just five minutes with Andrew McCormack finishing a series of good passing movements to the net. DD McCormack and David Malynn also netted before the break to leave the half time score, 3-6 to 2 points. Two more goals followed in the second period from DD McCormack and David Tone. The general consensus was ‘A good performance but much more serious challenges lie ahead’. Team: Eoin Carberry, Damien Carroll, Eamon Boland, Luke Kelly, Paddy Boland, Darren King, Boidu Sayeh, Declan Mullen (0-4), Enda Boland(0-1), David Malynn(1-1), Theo Watts(0-2), Andy McCormack(1-0), David Tone(1-4), DD McCormack(2-0), David Fox. Subs used: TJ Fox for A. McCormack, Damien Boland for P. Boland, James Geoghegan for D. Fox, Chathal Daly for D. Malynn, Daniel Boland for T. Watts.

25th May 2014
Rosemount 0-8
Shandona 1-9

Much like our game on Tuesday night, a goal on the final whistle decided the issue, except that today, we were already a point behind and chasing the game. We started very strong with four unanswered points, but Shandona got to grips with the game and were on level terms at the break, 5 apiece. We had problems in the second half translating possession into scores and were reduced to three points from placed balls by Declan Mullen. The visitors for their part, had the stronger finish and were one to the good before hitting the net, to leave them four ahead at the end. With the Championship only two weeks away, there’s some work to be done if we are to overcome the intermediate champions of two ago.

Team: Darren O’Connell, Damien Carroll, Eamon Boland, Luke Kelly, Andy McCormack, Darren King, Boidu Sayeh, Declan Mullen(0-4) Enda Boland, David Malynn(0-1), Paddy Boland, Daniel Boland, David Tone(0-2), James Geoghegan, DD McCormack(0-1). Subs used: Theo Watts for D. Boland, Damien Boland for D. King, Cathal Daly for D. Malynn.

20th May 2014
ACFL Div2
Rosemount 0-13
St Malachy’s 1-10
A goal two minutes into injury time denied us a deserving two points from this home game with St Malachy’s on Tuesday last. Instead we had to settle for a share of the spoils, after a highly entertaining game, with never more than three points between the sides. Both sides fielded without a number of regulars but it didn’t take from the entertainment value. Having held our own against a senior outfit, we trailed by just two at the break, 8 points to 6. We increased the tempo in the second period, profiting from a number of poor kickouts by the visitors. As full time approached we were 3 ahead and looked to have done enough, despite wasting a number of scoring chances. St. Malachys however had the final say with just their third score of the half on the final whistle. Good to see Theo Watts making his return after a long injury layoff. Team: Darren O’Connell, Damien Carroll, Richie O’Brien, Boidu Sayeh, Andy McCormack, Darren King, Dylan Hassett, D
